Chamber Choir
Members of the Chancel Choir may audition for this smaller select group. This choir sings throughout the year at various liturgies as well as appearing on the Celebration Works concert series.
Young Musicians Choir
The Young Musicians Choir is open to children in Kindergarten through 8th grade. The YMC meets regularly on Sunday mornings from 9:30 to 10:20 and our rehearsals include unison and two-part singing, movement, musicianship, music reading and ear training. In addition to opportunities to participate in Sunday worship, the YMC sings at the Christmas Eve Family Service and presents an annual musical in the spring.
INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC
Handbell Choir
The Adult Handbell Choir rings monthly at Worship from October through June. Open to High School and adults, previous ringing experience is helpful but not required. Rehearsals are Thursdays in the Sanctuary, 6:00-7:15pm.
Alder Street Chamber Player
This group forms ad hoc ensembles of strings, winds and keyboards based on availability of players and needs. Instrumentalists of advanced level are invited to contact Ann van Bever in the church office,
Alder Street Sextet
Our resident sextet (flute, oboe, clarinet, French horn, bassoon, piano) participates regularly for worship services, performs on the Celebration Works concert series, and plays at other churches and community events in the greater Portland area.
Youth/Adult Orchestra
This group is open to all who play a musical instrument. The orchestra plays three times per year (fall, winter, spring) with rehearsal times scheduled according to the performance. Music is selected to match the skill level of the players. The orchestra gives student and adult musicians an opportunity to get to know one another and make music together. It is an exciting way to use your musical talent in the worship service.
