Annual FPC Pentecost Picnic on the Plaza This Sunday!

We’ll celebrate Pentecost with our annual potluck picnic on the Plaza on Sunday after worship service! Remember to wear red!

Sunday’s Celebration Works Concert Features “Bird In My Horns”

At 2:00 p.m. Sunday, the quirky combination of flute, horn and piano called “Bird in My Horns”, presents a program of music ranging from the Baroque to the Romantic era to arrangements of tunes by Portland songwriters. The program also includes “Fingerprints: five fantasias about birds for piccolo solo” by Joep Strasser, played by the talented Elise Blatchford, newly appointed professor of flute at the University of Memphis. Hornist Leander Star and pianist Maria Choban, no strangers to Celebration Works audiences, make up the rest of the trio. Tickets are available at the door. Parking in the church’s garage is free.

Sundays at 5 Pentecost Potluck This Sunday

All families and friends of children & youth ministries are invited to a Sundays at 5 Pentecost Party Potluck tonight. Beverages and dessert will be provided – bring a salad or main dish to share. Carnival games for kids will be included.

Join Us for Sunday Adult Ed!

Professor Will Deming is teaching a 5-week series on First Corinthians. This Sunday, in Week #4, he will cover chapters 8-10 where Paul talks about participating in other religions. Finally, in Week #5 he’ll cover chapter 15 on why the resurrection of the body is important. Participants will learn how to apply what Paul says to today’s situations. The class meets in the Whitman Room from 9:00-10:00 a.m.

Memorial Day Work Weekend at Menucha, May 25-27

Enjoy fellowship with others over 2 days of making repairs, gardening, washing windows, splitting wood, etc. Arrive Saturday at 9 a.m. and depart after breakfast on Monday. There’s no cost – your work earns your room and board. Learn more and register downstairs after worship today or by calling Gail in the church office by May 6.

Help Wanted!

We have quite the crew of infants and young toddlers right now!  We also have a dedicated group of nursery care workers, whose schedules sometimes make it more difficult to staff our nursery.  If you are at least 18 years old and would be willing to volunteer on a regular or an occasional basis in our nursery, we would greatly appreciate it!  Please contact Sue Van Stelle.

Childcare Job Opening

Our amazing preschool care provider Ben is heading off for basic training after graduation and would like to retire.  This childcare position pays $10 an hour and goes from 8:45 to 11:45 a.m. on Sundays during the school year, and from 10:15 – 11:45 a.m. in the summer.  It does not need to be every Sunday.  Applicants must be at least 18 years old, pass a criminal background check and have childcare experience to qualify for this position.  Contact Sue Van Stelle if you are interested.

Flowers for 2013!

There are still a handful of Sundays available on the Sanctuary Flower calendar! Dates available: June 9, September 15, 22. Interested in dedicating an arrangement to a loved one? Contact Gail in the office at 503-228-7331.
