Claude Monet Rocks at Belle-Ile

Pastors Note for Sunday, February 14th

Pastor Carmen, FPC of Portland

Is it a winter wonderland where you live?  I hope you are finding ways to stay cozy, dear church!  As ever, you’re welcome to stream our weekly worship service at 10:30 a.m. at

Next Wednesday, February 17th, is Ash Wednesday and though we are not yet able to worship together in person, we have created “Ashes on the Go” kits that include a liturgy and everything you’ll need to have your own service at home (you can also use it in conjunction with our service live-streamed at 7 p.m.).  You may pick up the kits at the church (feel free to grab some for your neighbors as well) curbside on 12th Avenue Sunday, February 14th, Monday, February 15th, or Wednesday, February 17th (from 12 – 2 pm).  Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a season of deep reflection, that allows us to confront some of the painful realities of our lives and in our world.  In this unique Lenten season, may we find ourselves awakened to God’s grace in profound ways.

These are challenging days, yet be reminded that nothing in all of creation – no pandemic, no impeachment trial, no snowstorm, no loss, no illness – nothing can separate us from the love of God, which is known to us in Christ Jesus.

Grace and peace,

Pastor Carmen
