Plan now to attend the All Church Labor Day Retreat at Menucha, Friday, August 30th – Sunday, September 1st. We’ll share good meals, recreation, stories of faith, time outdoors, and unhurried conversations. We’re delighted that the Rev. Bob Stebe will lead an intergenerational program called Lost and Found. Rev. Stebe is the pastor of the Hillsboro Presbyterian Church; some folks from his congregation may join us for the weekend. Bob has thirty-six years of pastoral experience that began in youth ministry, where he served before his call to ordained ministry.
From Retreat Leader Rev. Bob Stebe: "If you know you’re lost, then you can be found…” is from the chorus of a song by contemporary Christian music pioneer, John Fischer. Being lost is something we have all experienced from the very young to the oldest of us. Being lost as a child is only one form. As we grow and mature we find many other ways that we are lost. Often we think of faith as looking for God, yet it is God who looks for us. From the beginning of humanity when God comes looking for Adam and Eve in the garden to our Good Shepherd, Jesus, who comes looking for those who are lost, it is not we who find God, but God who finds us. This retreat is a time to be found. As Fischer sings: “If you know you’re lost, then you can be found.”
This year’s event runs from Friday dinner through Sunday lunch
(2 nights), August 30th to September 1st, 2019.
Registration must be completed by Wednesday, August 14th, 2019.
Early Bird Registration Discount for full-time retreat attendees:
Sign up and pay before July 22nd, 2019, and your family or group’s Program Fee of $10 per person will be waived.
Costs for the retreat will vary depending on the type of housing chosen, age of the participant, and whether optional linens or alternate diets are requested. Full-time participants will pay MEALS, HOUSING, AND PROGRAM FEES. Amounts and descriptions for each item are listed below.
MEALS: Includes six meals, Friday dinner through Sunday lunch. Meals for adults (age 13+) are $95 and for youth age 7-12 are $49.50. While there is no charge for meals for children age 6 or younger, Menucha requires registration for them so there is plenty of food and there are enough places set in the dining room at each meal.
HOUSING OPTIONS: Housing is available only for those staying at Menucha both nights of the retreat. Discounts are not offered for shortened stays or missed meals. (If you can attend only part of the retreat, please register for the meals you can attend using the Commuter sign up link below.)
DELUXE housing ($240 per room for the weekend) in Creevey Commons is assigned as one family or group per room. Each room has one queen bed, two twin beds, and a private bathroom. The Housing Fee includes linens and towels for each person in the room. (Please bring towels from home for use at Menucha’s pool.) Creevey Commons is located away from Wright Hall, where the main program will be held and the dining room is located.
REGULAR housing ($180 per room for the weekend) in Wright, Ballard, Beam, Lindsay, and Boyd is assigned as one family or group per room. The number of beds in the rooms in these buildings vary, and room assignments will be made based on the size of the group. Some rooms share a hallway bathroom with others. Guests provide their own linens and towels, or Menucha can provide linens and towels for an additional charge of $12.50 per person. (Please bring towels from home for use at Menucha’s pool.) Programs and meals will be held in Wright Hall. Ballard Hall is very close to Wright Hall. Other housing options require a walk or drive to get to Wright Hall.
ADA compliant rooms are available in both housing options. Some of the housing is in far-flung areas of Menucha, and those with limited mobility may need to drive between their housing and the main program area and dining room. If you require an ADA compliant room or a limited mobility room (no stairs) please indicate that when you register online.
PROGRAM FEE: The program fee is $10 per person for full-time attendees, with a family maximum of $40 for four or more members of the same family staying in the same room.
