Welcome to First Presbyterian Church of Portland! We are a Christ-centered community, serving the spiritual needs of an intergenerational congregation. Through worship, education, fellowship, and outreach, we actively grow as disciples of Christ and become better neighbors to those both near and far.

Hope In Every Step: An Invitation for Artists Born Outside the US
Hope In Every Step is an exhibition sponsored by the First Presbyterian Church, Portland, Oregon under the supervision of the Visual Arts Committee. First Presbyterian Church is a member of the 7x7 Consortium of 7 art galleries in 7 downtown churches. In the fall of 2020, each gallery will present a different exhibition on the theme of immigration as part of its FOOTPRINTS series of exhibitions. 7x7 supports the work of artists and affirms the creative spirit through art exhibitions. Each gallery will offer a Wednesday evening educational event focusing on immigration, migration, the art in its gallery, and doing justice in today’s world. All events are free and open to the public.

Maundy Thursday 7:30 pm
In this service of worship in which we remember the last supper Jesus shared with his disciples, we invite you to participate in communion at home. Please source communion elements on your own before the service begins (traditionally bread and wine, however, please feel free to substitute similar elements as necessity dictates).
Good Friday 7:30 pm
This Tenebrae service, or service of light, will draw us into the story of Christ’s crucifixion. After each reading, a pastor will extinguish a candle and we encourage your participation by sourcing 7 candles in advance that you may light and extinguish in harmony with the pastors. If you only have one candle, please extinguish it at the end of the service.
Easter Sunday 10:30 am
Celebrate the good news of God’s resurrecting love that swallows up death. There will be no brass or choir, but there will be joy! Coffee hour will follow (you can find the link on the church homepage). Please take pictures of the way you are celebrating Easter at home this year and share them on the church Facebook and Instagram page. We'll have an Easter activity for families via Facebook live at 2 o’clock!
