20th Century Blues and Ragtime Guitar
Mary Flower, internationally known musician and teacher, will sing and play you through the music that paved the way to jazz, and later, rock and roll. The early guitar players like Blind Blake and Rev. Gary Davis mirrored the piano players of the day, performing on six strings what nobody thought possible.

Chamber trio Meadowlark (flutist Janet Bebb,
oboist Ann van Bever, and cellist Betsy Goy)
will be joined by pianist Susan McDaniel and
violist Ben Neubauer in music for unusual
combinations of instruments, sometimes “migrating”
from the original instrumentation. This program will
include the premiere of a quartet by Sara Carina Graef
inspired by the seven species of meadowlarks.

music by Danielle Jagelski, Ysaye Barnwell,
Billy Joel, and more.

Organist Katherine Burk performs a varied
program of music inspired by images
and ideas of what lies beyond our earthly realm.
Works by Erik Santos and Cecilia McDowall
depict celestial bodies, while music by
Nicolas de Grigny, Marcel Dupré,
and Olivier Messiaen provides meditations
on Heaven, the spiritual destination.
Celebration Works Concert Series offers free, accessible, virtual concerts at First Presbyterian Church of Portland, OR.
